Richard Rainbow, Drainage & Coastal Manager from Teignbridge District Council has advised that the proposed date for mobilisation works for vegetation clearance of the rear cliff is (currently) Monday, 23 February 2026. The first week will be the site set up, following which, the works will progress over 6 weeks.
Richard Rainbow stated: "the plan is to start work on the 23rd February – First week will be removal of vegetation from the cliff face. This will then be followed by the 3 weeks of rock netting from the 2nd of March which will be the most disruptive part of the works. Attached is the current construction management plan.
I am still waiting for planning permission; this should not affect our ability to do vegetation clearance and therefore progressing on basis we will receive positive permission by the time the vegetation clearance is completed.
As discussed, we will need to fence off the parking spaces, I have organised for 10 parking permits in Barton Hill carpark for up to 8 weeks to compensate for this loss although aware you have some arrangements in place. I would be grateful if you could let me know any residents that would require this, with their names (Flat No.) and registrations and can get these in place. I have also requested an area on Marine parade to site the welfare unit and contractors’ vehicles to also relieve pressure on the area behind the flats.
I intend to do a condition survey tomorrow and circulate for approval. I would be grateful if you could let residents know, I will do a formal letter to circulate and drop printed ones in tomorrow. I will also let the ‘neighbours’ know the programme of works with a letter drop."
Further information will be provided, as and when it becomes available.
