Welcome to Great Cliff!

Marine Parade, Dawlish

Great Cliff, is an attractive development of two to three bedroom apartments, standing in a prominent position right on the seafront in Dawlish, on Marine Parade, overlooking the great sweep of Lyme Bay.

Dawlish is set on the edge of beautiful rolling countryside as it meets the impressive cliffs of the South Devon coastline. There are three beaches all within walking distance: Boat Cove, Coryton Cove and the main beach, which stretches all the way to Dawlish Warren.

The Great Cliff building was purpose built in 2006 for 23 apartments and replaced a previous building known as The Great Cliff Hotel for Residents, The Great Cliff Hotel, Great Cliff House, before being originally known as Kennaway’s House.
Originally, the building may have been Mr Kennaway’s private residence, a local landowner, which was probably purchased by the South Devon Railway (SDR) back in 1844 who bought most of the properties in Marine Parade, to avoid opposition to the construction of the railway.

Indeed, Great Cliff House may have been used by the SDR as offices and as a meeting place for Directors, being let out to Joseph Samuda who was the Patentee of the Atmospheric Railway, to supervise construction.

Nowadays, the current Great Cliff building is privately owned by all the Leaseholders who purchased the Freehold of the property. Out of 23 apartments, a maximum number of 5 are let out as Holiday Apartments.

The property is managed by Crown Property Management Ltd in conjunction with the Leaseholders’ own Management Company – Great Cliff (Dawlish) Ltd.
