A dry riser system is an empty pipe running up the outside of our building which can be connected to by firefighters and used as a pressurised water system. There is an inlet connection on the outside of the building for the fire services to access, allowing the water to be pumped up to valves on upper floors.
This makes things easier for firefighters who are tackling a blaze in a building with multiple floors.
The system is designed to provide pressure on the upper floors of the building.
The system needs to be regularly checked to ensure that it can maintain sufficient pressure and certified, as part of the buildings insurance policy.
